How to set up LayerSeven TV on MAG Box

MAG boxes are set-top boxes built for IPTV and nothing else, which is exactly why people like them — stable, straight into television on boot, no app store to get lost in. Setup is unlike everything else here: there is no username or password to type. The box is identified by its MAC address, we link your subscription to it, and you enter one portal address. MAG 250, 254, 322, 324, 424, 520 and 540 all work the same way.

checklistBefore you start

  • A MAG box (250, 254, 322, 324, 424, 520, 540 or similar)
  • The box connected to the internet by cable or Wi-Fi adapter
  • A way to send us your MAC address

Step-by-Step Setup

MAG Box Installation

1
fingerprint

Find Your MAC Address

Power on the box and go to Settings > System Settings > Device Info, where the MAC address is shown as twelve characters beginning 00:1A:79. It is also printed on the sticker underneath the box. Photograph it — copying it by hand is how most activation problems start.

2
send

Send Your MAC Address

Send it to our support team by live chat, email or WhatsApp. We link your subscription to that specific box and send back a portal address. It is normally a few minutes during working hours, and nothing needs doing on the box while you wait.

3
settings

Set the Portal URL

Go to Settings > System Settings > Servers > Portals. Put a name in Portal 1 Name — anything you like — and the address we sent you in Portal 1 URL. Enter it exactly, including the http:// or https:// prefix, and save with OK. That address is the whole of the configuration; there is nothing else to fill in.

4
restart_alt

Restart the Portal

Return to the main settings menu and choose Restart Portal, or simply unplug the box for ten seconds. It reloads and your channel list appears. If it comes back to the same empty screen, the address has a typo — that is nearly always what it is.

5
play_circle

Start Watching

The full channel list, the guide, catch-up television and the on-demand library all load. The MAG remote has direct buttons for the guide and favourites, and the box remembers where you were when you turn it back on.

Common problems

Fixes specific to MAG Box

"Portal not found" or a blank screen after restart

The portal address is wrong, or the subscription has not been linked to this MAC yet. Recheck the address one character at a time including the prefix, and confirm with support that the MAC they registered matches the one under Device Info.

The box will not connect to the internet

Check Settings > Network. On a wired connection set it to DHCP and reboot; on Wi-Fi remember that most MAG boxes need their own USB adapter and do not have one built in. A cable is more reliable either way.

Everything worked until I changed my router

A new router does not change the MAC of the box, so your activation is intact. Reconnect the box to the new network under Settings > Network and restart the portal — no support ticket needed.
