How to set up LayerSeven TV on Android TV
Android TV, Google TV, the Nvidia Shield and the many Android boxes all run the same system underneath, so one set of instructions covers them. It is the most flexible television platform here: the Play Store carries several capable players, and anything it does not carry can be sideloaded. The Shield in particular handles 4K without complaint.

Android TV Installation
Allow Unknown Sources
Only needed if you are sideloading. Go to Settings > Device Preferences > Security & Restrictions > Unknown Sources and enable it for the app you will install from — Downloader or a file manager. If you are installing a player from the Play Store, skip this entirely.
Install LayerSeven TV or a Player
LayerSeven TV is not in the Play Store, so fetch the APK from our Downloads page using the Downloader app or a USB stick. For a Play Store player instead, IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate and XCIPTV are all built for a remote rather than a touchscreen — which matters more than it sounds, because a phone app on a television is genuinely unpleasant to navigate.
Open the App & Login
Launch the app from the home row. With LayerSeven TV, enter the username and password from your subscription email. With another player, choose "Xtream Codes API" and add the server URL, username and password. If the app was built for phones, a mouse-toggle utility makes the on-screen keyboard far easier for this one step.
Set the Buffer for Your Connection
Most television players expose a buffer size. Raising it trades a second or two when you change channel for far fewer interruptions mid-stream, which is a good trade on Wi-Fi. Lower it again if you are wired and want channels to change instantly.
Enjoy on the Big Screen
Channels, guide and on-demand content load automatically. Pin the app to the home row so it is one press away, and build a favourites list — scrolling tens of thousands of channels with a directional pad is not something you want to do twice.

Common problems
Fixes specific to Android TV
The app installs but does not appear on the home screen
Android TV hides apps that were not built for it. Look under Settings > Apps > See all apps, open it from there once, and use a sideload launcher if you want it on the home row permanently.
The remote cannot reach some buttons
A phone app is being shown on a television. Install a mouse-toggle utility, which puts a movable pointer on screen, or switch to a player designed for Android TV such as TiviMate.
4K stutters on an Android box but not on a Shield
Cheap boxes often claim 4K they cannot actually decode. Force 1080p in the player, or set the system output to 1080p — a clean Full HD picture beats a 4K one dropping frames.
